The PBM Standards are distinct from, but can be used in concert with, Standards for Blood Banks and Transfusion Services and Standards for Perioperative Autologous Blood Collection and Administration.
Because there is no effective date for this first edition, facilities have some flexibility in advancing toward full compliance, in anticipation of becoming accredited.
